The Bengals fell behind 17-0 in the second quarter and it looked as though the game might get out of hand.

Quarterback Carson Palmer then caught fire and the defense started to settle down, allowing them to creep back into the game.

Wide receiver Chad Ocho Cinco finally broke out with seven catches for 86 yards and a touchdown.

However, a key fumble by Jermaine Gresham in Indianapolis territory with less than three minutes to play halted the comeback attempt.

The lead did not last for long, though, as the Cincinnati defense was overwhelmed by Atlanta’s passing and running attack.

Cincinnati managed five field goals, and each one came after being given outstanding field position by the defense or special teams.

The Bengals can also thank some questionable officiating for two key calls that kept drives alive and each led to a field goal.

The win helps the Bengals avoid an 0-2 start and puts them right in the thick of the AFC North title hunt.

Benson believes he has more than outplayed the terms of his current contract and thinks he deserves more money and security.

The Bengals have been receptive to giving Benson a long-term deal, but contract talks are not imminent.

The running back has given the Bengals a different dimension to the offense as well as a toughness that was not apparent before his arrival.

He believes a lot of people were watching him last year to see if he would fail, and he thinks he surprised people with the success he had.

Jones said that his year away from football was miserable and could not put a positive spin on his time away from the game.

He was desperate for a team to take a chance on him, and he wasn’t sure that he would ever play again.

Jones admitted that you learn and grow as you get older, and he wants to prove that he has changed into a better person.

Or should it? It seems almost impossible how many players with questionable character the Bengals are willing to bring in.

You would think the team would need a solid group of veterans to show the way for these troubled youngsters.

The only problem is that the team is becoming so crowded with the troubled players that they will outnumber the quality veterans.

The team is obviously looking for a successor to Carson Palmer, but I’m not sure they are going in the right direction.
